This paper describes the development of a longrange wireless communication system, a technology that uses the unlicensed spectrum below 1 GHz with a form of direct-sequence spread-spectrum modulation, providing signal detection below the noise level to detect fishery buoys at sea. According to our experiments, the Global Positioning System position of a buoy could be transmitted to a fishing boat at a distance of 15 km. Therefore, fishermen can find the buoy faster than searching with the naked eye. This helps them find a buoy even if its position is greatly altered by currents or during poor-visibility conditions1
