The text analyses the new religious movements in Russia. The aim of the article is to examine the development of new religious movements after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The work oscillates around the figure of Jesus of Siberia - the self-appointed Messiah who created the sect and built a city in Siberia. The essence of this work is to establish where exactly the great Russian fascination with the "new God" was born and how to understand modern Russian religiosity
