Depression, the second most common chronic disorder in primary care, is a complex pathology with many symptoms. Family Practice Depression Multimorbidity (FPDM) study designated Hopkins Symptoms Check List-25 (HSCL-25) as the best tool to diagnose depression. In order, to have the same reliable tool in Europe, a translation of the scale has been made in each European country who was taking part in the study. With a backward-forward Delphi procedure translation, HSCL-25 was translated in Castilian, Catalan and Galician. To keep a relaible meaning, a linguistic translation is not enough.
