International audiencee notions of risk and disease risk factors have taken an important position in medical discourse and prac- tices. Risk factors, for example hypertension and hypercholesterolemia, are treated as diseases and tend to be identi ed to new pathologies, thus enlarging the pathological domain. But aren’t risk factors a di eren- tiation inside the normal category? Or do they introduce an intermediary status: potentially sick, neither healthy, nor pathological? In this paper we will discuss the relation between disease risk and disease. We will claim that this important distinction should be maintained.
