We aimed to study the impact or working methods on the acquisition of knowledge in sciences. We conducted an identical unit in a class of 31 pupils of CM1-CM2 who worked in groups of 3 or 4 and in a class of 22 pupils of CM1 who worked individually. We compared the evolution of the acquisition of knowledge and medium-term memorizing from the results of the different assessments (diagnostic, summative and delayed). We found, according to our experimental conditions, that progression is more important for pupils who worked in groups. Group work seems to favor the acquisition of knowledge.
