International audienceThe four aqueducts of Lyon threatened by development projects underwent archaeological survey which has brought to light unexpected new information. Even though the object of the survey was to tackle stratigraphical and environmental questions, the study has revealed new data on the building, the maintenance, the abandon, the re-use or the fossilisation of the canals. The network's length and range including four different profiled aqueducts culminating at 222 km have made any kind of linear presentation inappropriate.
