International audience"Around A.D. 1450, Acámbaro’s area (Guanajuato, Mexico) felt under Tarascan domination and became the new frontier fa-cing the Mexica Empire and Chichimecas’ ter-ritories. This article addresses the questions of the impact of Tarascan occupation on the territorial organization in this buffer zone, by combining a study of the colonial written sour-ces and an archaeological data recollection. Firstly, we attempt to reconstruct the border area settlement pattern and its defensive or-ganization, and secondly, we measure the pre-sence, in the Acámbaro’s region, of Tarascan identical markers in archaeological remains (artefacts and architecture).
