This research is focused on the cognitive contribution of media devices which are displayed in interactive scientific exhibitions for young children, in different contexts of accompaniment of the children. Two studies, based on a computer simulator allowing mixtures of paints, were conducted successively within the "3-5 years old" exhibition of the Cité des enfants ("Children's corner") in the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie (Paris). Forty five children less than six years old were observed: twenty under the control of the same expert tutor, then twenty five under the control of one of their parents.
