International audienceDuring a recent excavation at Mesnil-Saint-Nicaise, east of the Somme Department, the remains of a cult site, established at the end of a small valley in the beginning of the Roman period, have been uncovered. It was initially centred on a cremation platform, presumably during the Augustan era, then it was deeply reorganized during the second half of the 1st c. AD: several buildings were erected of which only the flint footing remains. In the course of the 2nd c. presumably, the final phase of occupation is marked by the edification of a temple with an outer ambulatory on a steep hill, following raising work.
