De l'intégration scolaire à l'éducation inclusive : d'une normalisation à l'autre

International audienceIn the last quarter of the 20th century, in France as in many other OECD countries, school integration was characterized in particular by the adaptation required from pupils with a disability to the school’s norms, without in return the school trying sufficiently to adapt itself to their particular needs. Today, inclusion is being replaced by integration: a new term, new principles and new practices, which aim to promote and build a school for all and for everyone. In fact, this development, which is supposed to lead to better consideration of the diversity of pupils, is the bearer of new forms of normalisation. The article ends with a reflection on the possibility of combining the consideration of differences and similarities, attention to particularity and the sharing of a common culture.Dans le dernier quart du XXe siècle, en France comme dans bien d’autres pays de l’OCDE, l’intégration scolaire est caractérisée notamment par l’adaptation exigée des élèves en situation de handicap aux normes de l’école, sans qu’en retour l’école ne cherche suffisamment à s’adapter à leurs besoins particuliers. Aujourd’hui, l’inclusion a succédé à l’intégration : nouveau terme, nouveaux principes et nouvelles pratiques, qui visent à promouvoir et construire une école pour tous et pour chacun. De fait, cette évolution censée conduire à mieux considérer la diversité des élèves s’avère porteuse de nouvelles formes de normalisation. Au final s’engage une réflexion sur la possibilité de conjuguer la prise en compte des différences et des ressemblances, l’attention aux singularités et le partage d’une culture commune
