De prédicteur à remédiateur : Effet d’un entraînement en conscience phonologique chez des élèves de cycle 3 en difficulté de lecture

International audiencePhonological awareness is awareness that words in spoken speech are composed of smaller units (syllables, phonemes, rhyme). At the end of kindergarten, such awareness is a good predictor for the successful learning of reading in the first year of primary school (The National Early Literacy Panel, 2008). The idea here is to turn it into remedial work at the end of primary school. This paper focuses on analysing the results of training in phonological awareness during three years for pupils in the final years of primary school showing difficulties, and for the most part enrolled in schools in priority zones. The sample includes 300 pupils divided into a control group of 65 pupils and an experimental group of 235 pupils divided into two groups. One is trained in phonological awareness and the name of letters (110 pupils), the other only in phonological awareness (125 pupils). The paper presents the statistical analysis of the data highlighting the effect of training in phonological awareness between the CE2 and CM2 classes, the last three years of primary school.La conscience phonologique est la connaissance consciente que les mots du langage oral sont composés d’unités plus petites (syllabes, rimes, phonèmes). C’est un prédicteur en fin de maternelle d’un apprentissage réussi de la lecture au CP (The National Early Literacy Panel, 2008). Il s’agit ici de le transposer en remédiateur des difficultés en fin de scolarité élémentaire. L’objet de cet article est d’analyser les résultats de l’entraînement en conscience phonologique durant trois ans auprès d’élèves de cycle 3 en difficulté scolarisés majoritairement en éducation prioritaire. Notre échantillon se compose de 300 élèves répartis en un groupe témoin (65) et un groupe expérimental (235), lui-même subdivisé en deux : l’un suit un entraînement en conscience phonologique et connaissance du nom des lettres (110 élèves) tandis que l’autre suit uniquement un entraînement en conscience phonologique (125 élèves). Nous présenterons l’analyse statistique des résultats mettant en évidence l’effet de l’entraînement en conscience phonologique entre le CE2 et le CM2
