Given this importance, continuous improvements and innovations in the sector are necessary, starting with planting, since the conventional system involves a large amount of botanical material per unit area. An alternative is the system of production of sugarcane seedlings via minitoletes, but this requires a significant amount of substrate, which entails an additional cost to the producer, with the purchase of commercial products.
