The contribution aims to provide elements for reflection and discussion on the agency role of the teacher, in general, and of the special teacher, in specific. In the first part, after recalling the ecological significance of the teaching agency, through a brief review of literature and recent school law, agency will be proposed as an essential component of today’s teacher’s competence profile, called to take on middle-management roles. In the specific area of inclusion, attention will be focused on the agent component in the profile of the Coordinator for the inclusion, recently established (L 107/2015; DL 66/2017).
