The WHO has classified Escherichia coli (EC) resistant to third-generation Cephalosporins, extended spectrum β-Lactamases, and Fluoroquinolones as one of seven bacteria of international concern [1]. Surveillance actions became important and necessary to monitor epidemiological trends in both human and veterinary medicine [2]. To improve the knowledge of multiple drug resistance spread of EC in Central Italy, a retrospective study (2012-2017) on animal and human EC strains was carried out.
