La culture in vitro constitue un des principaux stress activateurs des sequences endogènes infectieuses du virus de la mosaïque en tirets du bananier (BSV) présentes dans le génome Musa balbisiana. L'expression de ces séquences conduit à la présence de particules virales infectieuses de BSV. Des recherches ont donc été conduites afin d'évaluer le risque de diffusion du BSV lié à la multiplication de masse par culture in vitro de germplasm Musa contenant le génome M. balbisiana.
