Bovine microsatellite systems were used to amplify rusa deer (Cervus timorensis russa) DNA. Ninc markers, (ABS12, BM2934, CSSM041, IDVGA55, ILSTS006, INRA040, TGLA57, TGLA122, TGLA126) showing different polymorphisms in bovine and other deer species (red, sika) were tested. Seven markers gave PCR amplification products of which 3 were polymorphic. There it-as no amplificafion for CSSM041 and ILSTS006.
