Une évaluation des matériels existants et des prototypes pour la mécanisation de la transformation du manioc en gari a été effectuée. Bien que certaines machines soient efficaces et produisent un gari de bonne qualité, leurs coûts et leur technologie sont hors de portée du producteur moyen de gari en Afrique de l'Ouest. Quelques unes des méthodes traditionnelles sont apparues opérationnelles et, moyennant quelques modifications, leur productivité peut être améliorée. Une mécanisation appropriée et sélective est proposée; elle est basée sur le traitement manuel et l'utilisation de machines à combustion interne selon les étapes de la transformation considérée
