On place les anthères de riz dans un milieu semi-solide contenant 250 à 500 mg/l de colchicine pendant 24 à 48 h d'incubation. Puis on les transfère dans un milieu sans colchicine avec des procédures standards de culture d'anthère. On obtient globalement 1,5 à 2,5 % d'augmentation de la production de plants verts d'haploides doublés comparée à des cultures d'anthères controlées. L'addition de colchicine n'a pas eu d'effets nuisibles sur les différents paramètres du fonctionement de la culture d'anthère, mais quelques traitements ont conduits à un accroissement significatif soit de la fréquence de callogenése des anthères, soit de la capacité de régénération de cals verts .
