In this thesis, the research and the service design process in the creation and the development of a secondary business in the field of pop-up stores is presented. The service is developed from a user-centric perspective for the commissioner Fair Factory, which core business is in exhibition stands. Knowledge about pop-up stores is collected through a literature review and primary research in connection with a pilot project, consisting of semi-structured in-depth interviews. Main insights from the research, in making a successful service, is that more knowledge and skills are needed in marketing and that the location and space characteristics are important for a successful implementation of a pop-up store.
