Att arbeta med vardagsrehabilitering: Erfarenheter från personal inom kommunal hemtjänst.

Working in line with everyday rehabilitation: Experiences of assistant nurses in homecare. Introduction: Homecare aims to enable individuals to live at home. This is achieved by providing support and assistance to enable the individual to carry out his/her daily activities. The collaboration between the occupational therapist and assistance nurse is vital to foster geriatric rehabilitation in the home environment. The aim of the study was to describe the assistant nurses’ experiences of working in line with everyday rehabilitation in the home environment for older persons. Method: Qualitative study with unstructured focus group interview. The result was analyzed inductively and in line with qualitative, content analysis. Findings: Three categories emerged with following subcategories: time; the significance of time. Working together between organizations, colleagues, and relatives; Communication between colleagues. Units and decision routines are important. Staff of rehabilitation approach; the communication and collaboration with the individual. “To your hands behind your back” and let the individual to carry out his/her daily activities. Experience, reflection, education and competency of assistant nurses is of importance. Conclusion: Assistance nurse´s experiences of a working in line with geriatric rehabilitation in a home setting are importance of time, working together between organization, health-care professions and relatives and having a rehabilitation approach when individuals carry out their daily activities. Results also indicate that further development within these areas is of outmost importance further increase the knowledge of assistant nurses in everyday rehabilitation in the home setting
