Natural disasters often occur unexpectedly, precipitously and with great magnitude of destruction, resulting in significant loss of life and long-term disability from severe injuries including spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, limb amputation, fracture, peripheral nerve injury, crush injury and psychological impairment.
