Master of EducationThis thesis examines the history and effectiveness of concessions made to mature age students seeking University entrance in Victoria. The thesis specifically addresses the question of the desirability of maintaining a special University entrance scheme for mature age students entering Melbourne University. In addressing this question, three main areas have been investigated. (i) An historical resume, indicating when concessions were first introduced, why they were introduced, and changes that have occurred in the provisions.
