Although there exist many different combinations of technologies and protocols, we use the term `RNA-Seq' to denote the very broad class of experiments in which gene expression is studied by sequencing RNA. A very common goal for analysing RNA-Seq experiments is to identify genes that are differentially expressed across specified conditions in a designed experiment.
