An Analysis of Code Switching in Dangdut Academy Show in Indosiar TV Program.

Dangdut Academy is an Indosiar dangdut TV program attended by many participants from various regions and provinces in Indonesia. There are also judges, hosts, and commentators on the event came from different regions. So actually through this program, it can be easier for those who have an ability to speak more than one language where they can build an engaging conversation. In this thesis, the author analysed the languages used in code switching, the kinds of code switching often used in communicating, and the right reason in doing code switching among participants, judges, and commentators in the program. The results of this thesis showed that participants, judges, and hosts usually used intra-sentential type rather than intra-sentential. Secondly, she also finds that they use code switching in English and Sundanese more frequently. There are also reasons for the use of code switching to find the appropriate words, to express a sense of solidarity, to express the speaker's feelings, to make a joke in the conversation, to get closer to the other person, to change the topic, and to build a conversation
