[eng] The cosmic expansion history tests the dynamics of the global evolution of the universeand its energy density contents, while the cosmic growth history tests the evolution of theinhomogeneous part of the energy density. By comparing both histories, we can distinguishthe nature of the physics responsible of the acceleration of the universe: dark energy or modified gravity.
