Cancer cells, in general and especially Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) cells have been reported to be highly susceptible to oxidative stress. Based on this knowledge we examined whether the inhibition of the two main antioxidant defense pathways, i.e. the thioredoxin (TRX) and the glutathione (GSH) system, represents a possible new strategy to induce cell death in RMS.
