PENGARUH KOMBINASI EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN Mangifera indica L. DAN DAUN Syzygium polyanthum TERHADAP KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA Rattus norvegicus DIABETES

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorders characterized by the hyperglycemia that occurs due to abnormalities of insulin secretion or insulin resistance in fat tissue causing an increase hormone sensitive lipase which triggers the increase of lipolysis process that triggers the occurrence of lipotoxocity that causes cholesterol total increases. In this research, used a combination of ethanol extract leaves Mangifera indica L and Syzygium polyanthum leaves. Objective: The aim of this research is to know the effect of combination ethanolic extract leaves of Mangifera indica L. and Syzygium polyanthum on total cholesterol in diabetic Rattus norvegicus. Method: This study used true experimental, with post test design only control group design the method where the sample was randomly selected and divided into 6 groups, i.e healthy control group, positive control, negative control and three other groups were given combination ethanol extract leaves Mangifera indica L and Syzygium polyanthum with various doses: (8.4 mg / 200 gBB: 360 mg / 200 gBB), (4.2 mg / 200 gBB: 360 mg / 200 gBB) and (4.2 mg / 200 gBB: 720 mg / 200 gBB) for 7 days. Result and Conclusions: The results based on the analysis with Anova of this experiment were leaf extract of Mangifera indica L. and Syzygium polyanthum leaves at dose 8,4 mg / 200 gBB: 360 mg / 200 gBB; 4.2 mg / 200 gBB: 360 mg / 200 gBB; 4.2 mg / 200 gBB: 720 mg / 200 gBB administered for 7 days treatment can not significantly decrease total cholesterol levels
