UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI FRAKSI ETANOL UMBI Eleutherine palmifolia terhadap Escherichia coli DENGAN METODE DIFUSI CAKRAM

Background: the plant of Eleutherine palmifolia Had been proven could inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria and metabolites which was responsible on the bacterial activities were secondary metabolite compounds of naftokuinon classes (elecanacin, eleutherin, eleutherol, eleutherinon). Objective: the aim of the research is to obtained data of the chemical compound classes on the ethanolic fraction of Eleutherine palmifolia tuber fraction and obtained concentration of fraction that diameter inhibition zone on the ethanol Eleutherine palmifolia tuber fraction within inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. Method: antibacterial activity testing did with using disc diffusion methods. The first step was fractionation. Residual powder from n-hexane then ethyl acetate fractionation with ethanol solvent was using maceration methods 2x24 hours or submersion. Then will be identified secondary metabolite compounds. Then will be doing a bacterial activity test. Eleutherine palmifolia ethanolic fraction concentration and MHA, then incubated on 37oC for 24 hours and clear zone formed will be measured it diameters. Result and Conclusion: the result of secondary metabolite identification was showing Eleutherine palmifolia Tuber ethanol fraction contains saponin, alkaloid, flavonoid, polifenol, and antrakuinon. The result of antibacterial activity testing was inhibition of diameter zone Eleutherine palmifolia tuber ethanol fraction with 20 mg/ml, 40 mg/ml, 60 mg/ml concentrations were 6 mm for et all.
