This study aims to determine the effect of friction time on the strength characteristics of friction welding steel ST 41. The experiment was conducted using experimental method using lathe, the rotation is1800 Rpm, with time variation of 35 seconds, 40 seconds, 45 seconds and 50 seconds. Furthermore, tensile testing on each specimen of welded results, to determine the effect of friction time to the value of tensile strength of friction welding. From this research result, the highest tensile strength at 35 seconds time is 54.9441 kN / mm2 and the lowest 50 seconds is 50.6126 kN / mm2. This proves that welding time has an effect on friction welding
