ANALISIS PELAKSANAAN PENGUATAN PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER MELALUI BUDAYA SEKOLAH DI SDN LOWOKWARU 3 MALANG

Based on the facts, SDN Lowokwaru 3 Malang have implemented the character education for a long time, which then strengthened through PPK (Character Education Strengthening) program in the revision year of 2017. The implementation of the PPK program can be seen particularly through its school culture. Thus, the researcher wants to know: (1) The implementation of PPK program through school culture at SDN Lowokwaru 3 Malang (2) The emergence of students’ character in the implementation of PPK program through the school culture at SDN Lowokwaru 3 Malang (3) The obstacles in implementing the PPK program through school culture at SDN Lowokwaru 3 Malang (4) Solutions to the problems in implementing PPK program through school culture at SDN Lowokwaru 3 Malang This research employed descriptive qualitative research as the research approach. The source of data were the students from grade I until VI and the teachers at SDN Lowokwaru 3 Malang, which was selected by the headmaster. The data were collected through observation, interview, documentation, and field notation. In analyzing the data, the researcher used data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusion. Triangulation of sources and techniques were used to check the validity of the data. The result shows that the implementation of PPK through the school culture at SDN Lowokwaru 3 Malang is consist of the PPK planning which involves a). Deciding the key values of PPK, b). Designing the 2013 curriculum, c). Evaluating the rules of the school, d). Developing the school culture, e). Developing kokulikuler activities, f). Extracurricular (compulsory / optional). The emergence of students’ character in the implementation of PPK program on grade the school culture at SDN Lowokwaru 3 Malang I until grade VI students, have represented the key values of PPK. The obstacles faced by the headmaster as well as the teachers in implementing the PPK program through school culture are the lack of facilities such as; place for wudhu’ and prayer, and also library which is not extensive enough for students that makes the culture of literacy running less smoothly, the lack of cooperation between the teacher and parents also inhibits the implementation of the program. The solution offered by the headmaster and the teachers in implementing the PPK program through the school culture is holding a meeting with the parents for sharing and discussing the things related to the students’ character changing at home or at school in the implementation of PPK program through the school culture, teachers will motivate and engage students to visit the library, and get the students used to pray in congregation despite the lack of facilities mentioned above
