ANALISA KEBIJAKAN HUNGARIA DALAM MENOLAK MENERIMA PENGUNGSI ASAL SURIAH PADA KRISIS PENGUNGSI EROPA 2015

Foreign policy is a political instrument used by individuals, internationally as an international actor, and domestically as a domestic political actor. In Europe’s refugee crisis in 2015, Hungary is one of the European countries that interpreted the arrival of Syrian refugees as a threat and then issued a policy to refuse the arrival of the refugees. The Hungary’s refugee policy is pretty mush influenced by Viktor Orban’s cognitive style of thinking as acting Prime Minister. The interpretation of refugees as a threat comes from Orban as a religious and ultra-nationalist person. Using the Polyheuristic Theory developed by Alex Mintz, the authors found that the rationalization of Orban in refusing refugees is not only based on the cognitive style of thinking, but also the political benefits at the domestic level is taking into account, as well as what harm Hungary could have been avoided by rejecting refugees from Syria
