KONFLIK SOSIAL TOKOH PADA NOVEL KAMBING DAN HUJAN KARYA MAHFUD IKHWAN (TINJAUAN SOSIOLOGI SASTRA)

This research aims to describe social conflict in the novel of Kambing dan Hujan by Mahfud Ikhwan. Social conflict is a conflict of societal members in social context. Kambing dan Hujan’s novel tells the village disunity into two groups, namely south and north. The social conflict in the novel includes forms of conflict, factor of conflict and the impact of conflict. The limitation in this study is in conflict, including personal and group conflicts. Social conflict factors are limited to aspects of interests that including individuals and groups. Meanwhile, the impact of social conflict is limited to positive and negative aspects, which include solidarities and casualties. This study uses qualitative description research. The object used is a novel of Kambing dan Hujan by Mahfud Ikhwan. The subjects of this study are social conflict figures, which include forms of social conflicts, factors of social conflicts and the impact of social conflicts. The data in this research is obtained by analyzing the novel of Kambing dan Hujan by Mahfud Ikhwan through reading and recording techniques. The instrument used for this study is the researcher with aids in the forms of reference books and data cards. The validity of data in this study is using the validity of data and expert judgement. The result of discussion analysis is obtained that in the novel of Kambing dan Hujan by Mahfud Ikhwan, founded a form of social conflict committed by some figures. The characters in the novel involved in the conflict, namely Iskandar, Mat, Mifta, Fauzi, Cak Ali and members. The forms of social conflicts are (1) personal conflicts, in the form of prejudices and debating, and (2) group conflicts, including reform groups and old groups. In addition, disclosed factors causing social conflict that include interests. The interests expressed are individual interests and group interests. The impact of the conflict is divided into (1) positive and (2) negative impacts. This impact also includes solidarities and casualties
