KAJIAN PERANSERTA MASYARAKAT SUKU DAYAK KIYU DALAM UPAYA KONSERVASI KAWASAN HUTAN ( Studi Di Desa Hinas Kiri Kecamatan Batang Alai Timur Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Tengah Kalimantan Selatan )

Dayak Kiyu believes that forests and agrarian lands are able to support their families, therefore most people depend on forests and its products. The purpose of this study is to determine the efforts made by the Dayak Kiyu Ethnic in doing forest conservation and how the community in utilizing forest products. This research was conducted from April to May 2017. Primary and secondary data were applied in this data research. Primary data were collected by using snowball method and direct observation, while secondary data was obtained from related village apparatus, and library study from some related journals. Data obtained from interview and observation that are further processed and analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. Kiyu village has approximately 25 heads of families who are members of a Neighborhood Association (RT). The total number of Kiyu Village residents is 85 people. Kiyu Village resident’s profession is a farmer on the average. For Kiyu communities, farming is the inheritance of their ancestors, and for them, farming and gardening is the only way they can keep the forest. Dayak Kiyu maintains forest sustainability by not harming natural resources, their people are still dependent on forest products in the form of timber and non-timber forest products that aretaken to meet their economic needs. Non-timber forest products used by residents are rubber sap, honey, gaharu, resin gum, etc. Kiyu Dayak regulates the growth of existing vegetation by not cutting down the tree seeds to remain it available for next generation
