PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA TABUNG PERKALIAN BERWARNA PADA MATERI PERKALIAN UNTUK SISWA KELAS II SEKOLAH DASAR

The result of the observation and interview which was conducted at two schools showed that SDN Tulusrejo 2 Malang was only using simple media in the teaching multiplication which was straw, and SDN Sumbersari 1 Malang was not using any learning media. In fact, the use of straw as learning media in the multiplication lesson has two limitations; it is easily broken and easily lost. Meanwhile, the school which did not have any learning media only used blackboard as the media in teaching multiplication. This study aims at knowing (1) the development of colored multiplication tube media on multiplication material for grade II students of elementary school and (2) the eligibility of colored multiplication tube media on multiplication material for grade II students of elementary school. The researcher used ADDIE theory as the research model and development. The steps of ADDIE model are: (1) analyze, (2) design, (3) development, (4) implementation, and (5) evaluation. The effectiveness data were collected from students’ learning outcome before and after using the media. Before using the media, the students’ mastery level was 55% at SDN Tulusrejo 2 Malang and 21% at SDN Sumbersari 1 Malang. However, after using the media, the level of students’ mastery is 82% at SDN Tulusrejo 2 Malang and 79 % at SDN Sumbersari 1 Malang. The data of eligibility and interesting are obtained from the validation and responses of the students. The validation process is consist of three types; material expert validation, media expert validation and learning practitioners’ validation. The material expert validation reaches 92% validity with very valid specification and no revision needed, media expert validation reaches 84% of validity with very valid specification and no revision needed, and learning practitioners’ validation at SDN Tulusrejo 2 Malang reaches 97% validity and 95% validity at SDN Sumbersari 1 Malang with very valid specification and no revision needed. The data of interest were collected from students’ response toward the media. The result of students’ interest is 99% at SDN Tulusrejo 2 Malang and 97% at SDN Sumbersari 1 Malang with very interested specification. Meanwhile, the teachers’ response from both schools is 100 % with very interested specification. This study shows that colored multiplication tube media on multiplication material for grade II students of elementary school is classified as a valid, effective, and interesting media. This learning media is proposed to be used as a media for teaching multiplication material
