PERUBAHAN SOSIAL MASYARAKAT MINANGKABAU DALAM NOVEL PERSIDEN KARYA WISRAN HADI (TINJAUAN SOSIOLOGI SASTRA)

Persiden is a novel written by Wisran Hadi who presents the socio-cultural life of the Minangkabau society which is undergoing a shift in values and social order of society due to social change. The novel is interesting to examined in terms of the sociology of literature. In addition, the novel is also rich in cultural mores of Minangkabau society which is known as the matrilineal system. It is reinforced with author's background who represents social groups where he lived. Based on that background, there are three point that become focus of the research in Persiden novel, they are (1) social change forms of Minangkabau society contained in Persiden novel by Wisran Hadi, (2) the causative factors of social change toward Minangkabau society in the novel, and (3) social impacts that arise due to social change of Minangkabau society in the novel. The method used in this research is qualitative by Sociology of literature approach. Data source that is used as research material is Persiden novel by Wisran Hadi. In addition, the data are obtained in the form of language units, both words, sentences, paragraphs based on the author's good narration unit and the dialogue of the characters. To collect the data, researcher uses documentary technique. Furthermore, techniques of data processing done by collecting the data, simplifying the data, grouping the data, presenting the data, and drawing the conclusion. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be found the forms of social change toward Minangkabau society in Persiden novel namely: (1) behavior change, (2) values and social norms change, (3) management of property inheritance change, and (4) the change of custom homes concept. The causative factors of social changes toward Minangkabau society happen in Persiden novel: (1) a weak religious basis, (2) the influence of culture and individual interests, and (3) the weak of economy level. The negative social impacts caused by social changes toward Minangkabau society in the Persiden novel are (1) family disorganization, (2) youth problems in modern era, (3) violations of society norms of society as like prostitution and children delinquency, (4) population problems are increase as same as the population, and (5) environmental concerns as like environmental pollution
