PENGARUH JARAK TANAM TERHADAP KANDUNGAN MERKURI (Hg) PADA TANAMAN PAKCOY(Brassica rapa L.) DI LAHAN PERTANIAN SEKITAR PERTAMBANGAN EMAS RAKYAT KECAMATAN PESANGGARAN KABUPATEN BANYUWANGI SEBAGAI SUMBER BELAJAR BIOLOGI

Gold mine waste is the rest of the gold management process that uses mercury (Hg) as a gold binder media. The gold mine waste can cause the toxic environment for the surrounding environment, especially for the plants.Vegetables are important food type that contains vitamins and minerals, of which contents directly play a role in maintaining and improvinghealth. This research aimed at finding out a treatment which can eliminate mercury (Hg) contenton one of the plants located in agricultural land around the people's gold minethat is Pakchoivegetables (Brassica rapa L.) using various plant spacing treatment. This type of research was Pre-Experimental and the design used One Shot Case Study that there was a group given a treatment, and then observed the result. The research design was Randomized Group Design (RAK), with various treatment plant spacing of group A 30 × 30 cm, B 25 × 25, C 15 × 15 cm, and D 10 × 10 cm and repeated as many as 6 times for each group. The population of this research was Pakchoiplant (Brassica rapa L.), in which the plant was planted around the waste disposal site of the people's gold minefrom Pesanggaran district. The samples of this research were stems and leaves of Pakchoi plant (Brassica rapa L.). The data analysis method was done by using One Way Anava and continued by Duncan’s test with 5% significant level. The result of this research showed that there was no effect of plant spacing on the decrease of mercury (Hg) content on Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) plant and the mercury (Hg) content of Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) plant exceeded the quality standard that has been determined by BSNI 738 - No.04 of food category in 2009 which is 0,03 mg/kg, which means very dangerous and not recommended for consumption. The lowest level of 0.47 mg/kg was onthe group D and the highest level of 27.88 was on the group A. Based on the results of the research it is suspected that the pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) plant performs a coping mechanism in order to grow and thrive in a polluted environment of heavy or toxic-containing metals. Some possible mechanisms may be avoided : avoidance, exclusion, countermeasures, and tolerance. The implementation of this research was in the form of contextual media poster with color images
