Mental health profile among the Malaysian technical university students

This paper discuss about the mental health problem among the Malaysian Technical University (MTU). The purpose of this study was to produce a profile of mental health problem among the MTU students from the aspect of gender, year of study and field of study. A total numbers of 450 students were randomly selected as the sample in this study by using a stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used for this study was adopted from the DASS-21 inventory. The gathered data were analyzed by using frequencies, percentage, mean score, standard deviation, Independent T-test, one-way ANOVA and LSD post-hoc test. The results showed that there is a significant difference in mental health problem from the aspect of year of study and field of study. As a conclusion, intervention program needs to be conducted to overcome the mental health problem in order to help the students to achieve better academic performance
