Background Obesity is a global public health problem. Data on the epidemiology of obesity in many sub-Saharan African countries including Nigeria is scant. The objectives of this study were to determine the prevalence of obesity, the associated sociodemographic and behavioural factors, as well as the impact of perceptions of large body size, on obesity and overweight, in Enugu Nigeria. Method A cross-sectional household survey of adults aged 20-60 years, was conducted using multi-stage cluster randomised sampling.
