The present dissertation aims at providing a reliable picture of the architecture and monumental art of the Early Achaemenian period in Fars and the Persian Gulf region, singling out the differences of developments from those of the Mutual Achaemenian period and emphasizing the interplay of cultures and traditions leading to the ideological and artistic framework endorsed by the new dynasty. For reaching this aim, the archaeological investigation of the technical characteristics in the monumental art of the period, focusing on the two architectural media of bricks and stone, has been carried out. Another approach to the study of these monuments, concerned the iconographic motifs present in the monumental art of the Early Achaemenian period...
