Hoe kiezen patiënten een ziekenhuis? Een enquête bij twee poliklinieken

A survey in two specified hospital clinics The Dutch health care system is a demand-driven care system since 2006. Patients are supposed to actively deal with public information about the quality of a hospital and make their own choice for a hospital. In this study we analyze how patients actually choose a hospital and which factors are related to their choice behavior. A survey among 400 patients was carried out; the dependent variable has been described as choice behavior. The response rate is 95% (n=380). The results of a multinomial logistic regression indicate that patients considering their own feeling, previous experience with the hospital and the opinion of family, friends as more important make an active choice for a hospital. However, patients considering the opinion of the general practitioner as more important do not make an active choice for a hospital. It turns out that public websites, likewww.kiesbeter.nl, had no influence on the choice behavior of the patients
