In accordance with a 1769 edict, all Jews wishing to receive permits of any kind of business activity, including marriage and death certicates, were required to purchase a certain amount of this (then) poorly made and overpriced porcelain, which was called "Judenporzellan."Joseph S.M Meier ("J.J.
