What effect has the development in women's undergarments had on the role and image in society of women in the past hundred years?

This dissertation aims to look at how women have distorted their bodies throughout the last hundred years with the aid of underwear and how the underwear restricted or freed them. I will be using books and the internet finding pictures and information to explore how underwear has changed within the last century.
