This study investigates the invention of the tailored garment in the early eleventh century, and traces its development from the draped garments worn by the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and Early Christians 2000B.C. to 475A.D. This study looks at each era individually examining fabrics, colours and motifs used as well as studies of key elements of clothing. Studying who wore specific items of clothing and how all these factors proclaimed peoples position with in social standing.
