The present thesis puts into evidence the role of social movements on social media and how corporations’ legitimacy is impacted by stakeholders’ reactions on online platforms. We analysed how CSR initiatives on social media can generate ethical backlash and explored which online and offline contextual factors influence stakeholders’ perception. This study aimed to enhance the literature by exploring new variables on social media, which are potentially affecting corporations’ legitimacy.
