This research aims to analyze the managers' perception regarding the performance appraisal process of the technical-administrative servants in education of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), investigating factors related to the purpose, structure and preparation of managers to participate in this appraisal process. The research is justified because of the strategic importance of this instrument in the institution contrasted with a scenario of high averages of grades and the perception of disagreement on the part of the servers in relation to the criteria used by the current evaluation model, besides the existence of few studies on the theme in the institution.
