Cytomegaloviruses (CMVs) establish systemic infections across diverse cell types. Glycoproteins that alter tropism can potentially guide their spread. Glycoprotein O (gO) is a non-essential fusion complex component of both human (HCMV) and murine CMV (MCMV).
