Transmission techniques, supported by technological breakthroughs, have significantly improved to cope with the increase of both data rate and traffic. For instance, the turbo principle has enabled to design quasi-optimal, robust and low-complexity receivers, whereas multiple input multiple (MIMO) systems imposed themselves as one solution to spectral efficiency enhancement given a fixed transmission power.
