International audience"Archaeological research in Meso-america has shown that the spatial arrangement of remains linked to ritual activities (monuments, offerings, etc.) was deeply determined by the cosmology of those societies. This article deals specifically with the material manifestation of concepts such as that of death and the Underworld through the case study of the Epiclassic site of Potrero de Gua-dalupe (Michoacán). Geophysical prospection and excavations have revealed that the funeral space was divided into three sectors, which seem to correspond to the various phases of the cult of the dead.
