The purpose of this study was to examine attitudes toward gender minorities in Norway, and identify background variables that may explain differences in attitudes towards transpeople in Norway. This paper will present theory relevant to the understanding of gender and attitudes from a social constructionist point of view. Based on a systematic review of previous research five hypotheses were formed. These hypotheses was tested using data from a web-based nationwide representative survey, conducted in 2013 among 1,250 Norwegians from 18-86 years. As predicted by the hypotheses, this study found that gender minorities are a subject of more negative evaluations than heterosexuals, gays, lesbians and bisexuals.
