Intravenous (IV) drip is a crucial mode for delivery of fluids and other pharmacological substances directly into the blood circulation. IV drip is widely used because of its advantages. Though IV drip is a safe, effective and affordable tool, yet a number of complications can arise in its usage. In this paper, IV drip usage and its associated risks are reviewed and a solution is proposed to enable monitoring and control of IV drip based on sensing of drops falling through the drip chamber. Such a device will potentially reduce complication and provide peace of mind to users of IV drip system
